Help save dogs like Truman

Our goal is to save abandoned, stray or lost dogs and find them forever homes. Truman342We make sure they are fed, safe and warm and get medical treatment, but we need your help.

It takes a village.

Plato needs surgery

plato

This is not a distemper case, but Plato is a senior dog caught up in a sad divorce situation that has “adopted” by us at Eco Dog Wash in Los Angeles. He’s the resident plaything for the rescue puppies and kittens who’ve passed through our doors. Unfailingly patient and good-natured but suffering from bad hips. We just found our today he had a major ACL tear that needs physical therapy and/or surgery.

We are collecting donations for his treatment.

Please help.

Give Champ a home

This  is Champ .  He is a 13 year old champion good boy!   His 83 year old human was taken to the nursing home forever, his little adorable companion shih tzu was immediately taken in.  He was left behind with the drug addict adult daughter who removed his collar and set him out in the yard with the gate open as if to say “go on get out of here”.  He stayed until a neighbor came to his aid.  The daughter said she hadn’t fed him in “a couple days”.  For all that he is sweet, calm and playful .  Even though he is very confused about where his friend and his momma went, he is willing to make new friends.

Champ needs a safe foster or a forever home.  He deserves some comfy pillows and regular meals.  He has spent most of his 13 years outside but is a well mannered guy and likes to go for walks.  He is friendly with other dogs but is a cat chaser.  If you can foster him or give him a forever home please call 323 702 4667.   Donations to Kind Hearts in Action /Under the Porch will be appreciated – but the foster home is the most important thing.  www.undertheporch.wordpress.com

Help make room for Project Hope

Project Hope in Houston is returning to active status following a hiatus this summer. Many dogs had been saved from distemper this spring through the use of Dr. Al SearsNDV serum. The goal of the project has been to treat and document the recovery of distemper dogs. However, before they can return to treating dogs, Project Hope needs to find homes for these two special pups. Brindy is a distemper dog saved with the serum, and Millie was found on the streets and seriously injured. They need homes immediately. So, if you can help, please contact Jane Ward with Project Hope at saint.bernard.rescue.of.texas@gmail.com or Ed Bond at ed.bond.new.york@gmail.com. Photos and brief descriptions follow.

Brindy, left, a distemper survivor, with Millie.

Millie needs a home.

Here are photos of Millie, a boxer mix puppy, and Brindy, a we-are-not-sure mix puppy.  They are like twins–and great playmates.  If someone can only take one or the other, I understand, although it will be kind of sad since the two puppies are bonded.

Millie was found wandering with a bottom jaw broken in two places.  The hinges were intact.  After surgery, she is good as new.  She has a little tiny tooth in the wrong place and lost just one bottom canine/has all of the rest of her teeth top and bottom.  Her mouth looks normal and functions fine.

Brindy had Demodex and distemper.  That was back nearly four months ago.  She has the cutest underbite and enamel hyperplasia from being a distemper survivor but you can’t tell unless you pry open her mouth. I was working on the distemper project with Dr. Alson Sears http://kindheartsinaction.com, and Brindy was a recipient of the serum. Using Interceptor daily, per Doc Sears as well, she was cleared of mange and has a beautiful brindle coat with a red sheen.  We have her on a maintenance dose twice a week.  This will need to continue until she is a year or so old. I can go and buy it and send enough along if that helps.

Both puppies are about six-seven months old. They are all people and all dog friendly.  Upbeat, happy, love life puppies.  Ideally, they would stay together in an active home.  Millie especially needs to go out and play, run, etc.  They both loved to keep me company in the kitchen/be taste-testers when I cook and play tug, keep away, etc. very well together especially.  The just gravitated toward each other.

For three or four hours, they are in a playpen (4 foot high) or Millie is crated and Brindy playpen’d but they aren’t able to go a full day without going out/attention.  They are not yet leash-trained.  I have been sick for awhile and now is recovering from a life-threatening case of anemia.

Brindy was spayed at 8 wks (unfortunately the shelter did it before we got involved) and Millie has not been yet.  She just had her first heat.

Thank you!
Jane

EXTREMELY URGENT–DANNY DIES AT ANY TIME

DANNY(URGENT) HAS NO TIME LEFT IN POUND–THERE ARE TOO MANY DOGS, NO SPACE–

HE HAS BEEN THERE FOREVER.
Little Danny, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mix, is a very sweet, calm, and easy going little boy, but very sad as he has been in the LA

pound for a long time, and they are overfull. No one has had the heart to euthanize him–yet–since he is so perfect. He is about 3 years old,

weighs only around 8 pounds, and appears to be quite healthy.

Danny is far cuter than his pictures. He has almost no time left. Please be a hero and save him by adopting him. We are begging for his

little life. If you would like to be his savior, please contact: jessbrad12@socal.rr.com or hilotammy@yahoo.com .

Peekaboo  (A1140648, just 5 months old, on medical alert and needs out NOW!!!) was originally brought into the shelter with her two sisters back in early August.  The girls were all adopted  —  Peekaboo into a home that kept her for about 3 weeks, then returned her to the shelter, claiming they had “no home”.  Somehow, these people failed to mention that they were dumping this precious puppy with a fracture of her femoral head, leaving her limping and horribly depressed. Forget that now  —  together we must save Peekaboo’s life, get her the surgery she needs, and prove to her that there are those she can trust, those who will laugh at her antics, and those who will protect and cherish her for the rest of her life. If you want to be the one to play hide-and-seek with Peekaboo, please call the South L.A. shelter at (213)  485-0117  or  -0119.  And if you would like to pledge funds towards a qualified rescue who can get Peekaboo the surgery she needs, please let us know.   We thank you, Andrea & Mindy     ivegonetothedogs@gmail.com (323) 363-4909

Meet one of our beautiful baby residents at the Pasadena Humane Society. This is Brindi (A275442) and she is just four months old. She is super cute and take a look at those hilarious ears!

Sadly, she has been at the shelter for a month now and we really need to find her a home as the shelter is very full. We need a commitment for Brindi by Wednesday 15 September at the latest. Please call us now if you can help her!

This little angel is full of adorable puppy mischief and cuddles. She adores getting to play and snuggle and is just a baby in need of a home and some love.

Brindi (A275442) was turned in to us by her owner a month ago with some of her siblings. They have all been adopted now and Brindi is left behind.

Brindi is at a vital point in her development at sixteen weeks old and needs an owner to take her in and teach her all the things other puppies get to learn. Please don’t let her grow up in the shelter.

We think Brindi (A275442) is a German Shepherd mix, she has a terrific brindle coat with white markings and her wonderful ears are just fantastic! Watch a video of her showing off her playful personality by clicking here!

If you can help us with this gorgeous girl please contact us at the Pasadena Humane Society and quote her ID number, A275442.
